January 2025 - Bellatrix Aerospace, a leading innovator in satellite propulsion systems, has marked another significant achievement with the successful firing of its green monopropellant propulsion package for the second time in space. This accomplishment, part of the ISRO PSLV C60 POEM-4 mission, represents the company's third consecutive successful propulsion firing in orbit, further solidifying its position at the forefront of sustainable and high-performance space technology.
The propulsion package demonstrated is Rudra 1N which is a green mono-propulsion system, featuring a fully integrated package, with components including tanks, valves, high performant propellant, and catalyst, all designed and developed in-house.
Building on the success of its previous space qualification missions, including the landmark achievement in January 2024 where Bellatrix qualified both green and electric propulsion systems on the same mission, this latest success underscores the company's engineering expertise and the dependability of its technology. The rapid turnaround time and the replication of hardware from the previous mission highlight Bellatrix Aerospace's commitment to delivering consistent and repeatable performance.
"The performance of Rudra this time has set a new benchmark," said Rohan Ganapathy, Co-founder, CEO, and CTO of Bellatrix Aerospace. "Imparting a disturbance of 1.4 deg/s on the POEM body in the Yaw axis for a 60-second firing and achieving an 80-degree angular rotation of the POEM platform sets a new standard for this propellant."
Yashas Karanam, Co-founder and COO, added, "This successful mission showcases the versatility and reliability of our systems, addressing the evolving needs of satellite operators and manufacturers worldwide. It validates our system's performance under real-world conditions and strengthens our clients' confidence in our repeatable process excellence."
It also reinforces Bellatrix Aerospace’s reputation as a company pushing the boundaries of innovation, ensuring our clients receive tested, reliable, and cutting-edge propulsion solutions.
Looking Ahead
With more firings planned for this mission in the coming days, Bellatrix Aerospace continues to push the boundaries of space innovation. The company remains dedicated to providing cutting-edge, sustainable propulsion solutions that enable more efficient and responsible access to space.
