Bellatrix Aerospace Expands into the U.S. with New Subsidiary
11 April 2025
Bellatrix Aerospace, a leading satellite propulsion manufacturer revolutionizing in-space mobility, is excited to announce its expansion into the United States with the establishment of a new subsidiary. This move marks a strategic step in Bellatrix’s mission to deliver world-class propulsion systems to the rapidly growing U.S. commercial space market.
As part of this expansion, Bellatrix Aerospace has appointed Chris MacDonald as Vice President to oversee the company’s U.S. operations. With more than 17 years of experience across the space and energy sectors, Chris brings invaluable expertise and leadership to the team. His career highlights include founding a satellite telecommunications company and serving as the Business Development Director at Astra and Terran Orbital: A Lockheed Martin Company, where he led strategic growth and forged vital industry partnerships.
Chris MacDonald has already demonstrated Bellatrix’s commitment to the U.S. market by securing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a prominent U.S. satellite manufacturer. This agreement positions Bellatrix as the preferred propulsion supplier for their future satellite missions.
Strategic Collaborations and Market Impact
“This marks an important milestone in our growth journey,” said Yashas Karanam, COO & Co-Founder of Bellatrix Aerospace. “Expanding into the U.S. has always been one of our top priorities, and with three consecutive successful propulsion missions under our belt, we are confident that our expertise in propulsion, reliability, and repeatable process excellence will be a perfect fit for the expanding U.S. commercial space sector. In the coming months, we also plan to establish a manufacturing facility in the U.S. to meet growing demand and comply with regulatory requirements.”
Bellatrix’s advanced propulsion systems include high-performance green propulsion solutions and hall-effect technology-based electric propulsion systems. These space-qualified systems are designed to meet a wide range of satellite classes and mission profiles, offering unmatched efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness. Bellatrix also provides modular sub-systems such as tanks, valves, catalyst bed heaters, and thrusters, offering customers a full suite of propulsion solutions that deliver superior results in less time.
A Call to U.S. Satellite Operators and Manufacturers
Bellatrix Aerospace invites satellite operators, manufacturers, and space industry stakeholders to explore collaborative opportunities with the company’s new U.S. team. With a shared vision of advancing space technology, Bellatrix is eager to build lasting partnerships and contribute to the success of satellite missions around the world.
Chris MacDonald, Vice President of Bellatrix USA, also expressed his excitement, “I am thrilled to join Bellatrix and help guide its expansion into the U.S. The potential for innovation and growth in this sector is immense, and I look forward to working closely with our partners and customers to drive the future of space mobility.”
